Official SASSA Government Website 

The SASSA website is the best way to check your application status in an official way. Here’s how to do it step-by-step: 

1. Visit the SASSA website:  

Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status. 

2. Status Check Section: 

Here you will find the Form for SASSA Status Check. 

3. Enter Your Details: 

You’ll need to enter your South African ID number and the phone number you used when you applied. 

4. Submit and View Status: 

Once you enter everything, click “Submit.” If the info matches your application, you’ll see your grant status right there on the screen! 

Moya App 

There’s also a free app called Moya by SASSA that grant recipients can use. This app lets you check your grant status without using any data/internet on your phone!  

Here’s how to use the Moya App: 

1. Download the Moya App: 

To use the Moya App, first download it for free on your phone. Search for “Moya App” in the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (Apple). 

2. Register or Login: 

If you haven’t used the Moya App before, you’ll need to create an account. Just enter your South African ID number and mobile phone number. 

If you already get help from SASSA, you can log in to the Moya App with the info you already use. 

3. Check Your SASSA Grant Status 

Once you’re logged in to the Moya App, find the part where you can check your grant status. It might be called “Application Status.” 

4. View Your Status: 

The Moya App will show you your current SASSA grant application status and any other important info about it.

Need help checking your application status?  If you’d rather talk to someone on the phone, or if you’re having trouble with the website or app, you can call the SASSA Helpline: 

1. Helpline Number:  

Call 0800 601 011. This is a toll-free number within South Africa. Standard call rates may apply if calling from outside the country. 

2. Speak to a Representative:  

Explain that you’d like to check your SASSA grant application status and provide your ID number and any other relevant details requested by the representative. 

No matter how you check your status, make sure you have your South African ID number and the phone number you used when you applied handy.

Understanding SASSA Grant Statuses 

A SASSA status check allows you to see the current stage of your application for a SASSA grant. This guide is super helpful to know what’s happening with your SASSA grant application. Let’s see what the different application statuses mean! 

Status	Meaning	Next Steps
Submitted	This means SASSA got your application!	Wait for further updates on processing.
Processing	SASSA is checking your application to see if you qualify for the grant.	All good! You don’t need to do anything now, but you can check again later to see any updates.
Approved	Great news! You got the SASSA grant!	They’ll text you with the details about your grant money!
Denied	Unfortunately, your application was not approved.	You can request Reconsideration, if you don’t understand the reason for denial.
Appeal	This shows you’ve challenged the denial of your application.	Wait for a response from SASSA regarding your appeal.

Income-Related Statuses 

Alternative Income Identified:  

It looks like you might already be getting money from somewhere else (like unemployment benefits). Because of that, you might not qualify for the SASSA grant this time.  If you think this info is wrong, contact SASSA to explain. 

Means Income Identified: 

Stop sign! It looks like you might be earning too much money from a job or investments to qualify for the SASSA grant this time. 

Re-application and Payment Statuses 

Application Complete (Re-application): 

Good job! You reapplied for the SASSA grant. They’ll check again each month to see if you qualify. Keep an eye on your application status to see if you get approved! 

Bank Details Pending: 

Hold on! SASSA has your application, but they need your bank account information to send you the money. You can usually do this online or by visiting a SASSA office. 

Re-application Pending: 

Uh oh! It looks like you haven’t reapplied for the SASSA grant yet. If you still want it, head over to the SASSA website and apply! 

Month-Specific Statuses 

SRD Pending: 

Not yet! Your application for [Month you applied for, e.g., March] is still being reviewed by SASSA. Check back later to see if there are any updates. 

SRD Approved: 

Great news! Your application for [Month you applied for, e.g., March] was approved! Keep an eye out for a text message (SMS) with the details about your grant money. 

SRD Declined: 

Sorry to hear! Your application for [Month you applied for, e.g., March] wasn’t approved this time. They gave a reason why, so check that out. If you think the reason is wrong, you can try to change their mind (appeal) on the SASSA website.
